Frequently asked questions
How do I check if my YAML is valid?
Paste your YAML or open a .yaml file. It is checked as you type: you see Valid YAML, or the line and column of the problem and what is wrong. Tap Show me to jump to it.
How do I format YAML?
Tap Format YAML. Indentation becomes even (2 or 4 spaces), spacing is tidied, and lists can be indented under their key or not.
Are my comments kept?
Yes. Comments, anchors and aliases (& and *), tags and the quotes you chose stay where they are. Only the layout changes.
Does it find duplicate keys?
Yes. A key used twice in the same mapping is reported with its line, because most tools would silently keep only one of them.
Does it work with Kubernetes and Docker Compose files?
Yes, including files with several documents separated by ---, and merge keys like <<: *base. Choose YAML 1.1 for older tools that read yes and no as true and false.
Is my YAML uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, so your config files and secrets never leave your device.
