Frequently asked questions

How do I format XML?

Paste your XML or open a file, then tap Format XML. Choose 2 spaces, 4 spaces or tabs, and copy or download the result.

How do I find the error in my XML?

It is checked as you type. If something is wrong you see the line and column and what to fix, like a tag that is never closed or a stray &. Tap Show me to jump to the spot.

Will formatting change my data?

No. Only whitespace between tags changes. Text mixed with tags, anything marked xml:space="preserve", CDATA sections, comments, entities and attribute quotes stay exactly as they were.

Can it minify XML?

Yes. Tap Minify to remove the whitespace between tags. You can also remove comments and write empty elements as <tag/>.

Which files can I open?

Any XML file: SVG, RSS and Atom feeds, sitemaps, XSD and XSLT, Android and .NET config files, KML, GPX and more, up to 50 MB.

Is my XML uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser, so your files never leave your device.
