Frequently asked questions
What is a UTM link?
A normal link with tags added at the end, like utm_source=instagram. Analytics tools such as Google Analytics read them to show which posts, emails and ads bring you visitors.
Which UTM tags do I need?
Source (where visitors come from), medium (the kind of link, like social or email) and campaign (the name of your promotion). Content, term and campaign ID are optional.
Should UTM values be lowercase?
Yes. Analytics treats Instagram and instagram as two different sources, so the tool makes values lowercase and replaces spaces with dashes by default.
What happens if my link already has tags or a #anchor?
Your link's own settings and #anchor are kept, and any old UTM tags are replaced by the new ones instead of being added twice.
Can I make links for several platforms at once?
Yes. Open "Make one link per source", type one source per line, and copy all the links at once, ready to paste into a spreadsheet.
Are my links saved?
Your recent links are kept only in this browser so you can reuse them. Nothing is sent to us.
