Frequently asked questions
How do I redact a PDF?
Open the PDF, then search for a name, word or number and press Mark all, or drag on a page to draw a box. Check the boxes, then press Redact and download.
Is the hidden text really gone?
Yes. Every page with a box is rebuilt as an image with the box painted on, so the text, pictures and drawings underneath are removed from the file. Nobody can copy, search or uncover them.
Can it find emails, phone numbers and card numbers for me?
Yes. One click marks every email address, phone number, card number, IBAN or web link in the document. Card numbers and IBANs are checked with their check digits, so ordinary numbers aren't marked.
What happens to the pages I don't redact?
They stay exactly as they were, with real text you can select. Only pages with a box are changed.
Does it remove hidden information too?
Yes. The redacted PDF is a fresh file without the old title, author, attachments or scripts, which can give away more than the pages.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, so sensitive documents never leave your device.
