Frequently asked questions

How do I get the colour of a pixel?

Open the image and move over it: the magnifier shows the pixels and the colour updates. Click to keep it, and copy it as HEX, RGB, HSL, HSV, CMYK or OKLCH.

Can I pick a colour from a screenshot?

Yes. Paste the screenshot with Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on a Mac). In Chrome and Edge you can also pick from anywhere on your screen.

What does the sample size do?

With 3 × 3 or more, the colour is the average of the pixels around the point, which avoids noise in photos.

What are the main colours?

The colours that cover most of the picture, with how much of it each one covers. Copy them all as CSS variables for your design.

What does the contrast tell me?

How readable white or black text is on the colour. AA means fine for normal text, AAA is even better.

Is my image uploaded?

No. The image is read in your browser, so it never leaves your device.
